Sarnia Wraps coming off new art gallery Boxes are piling up at Gallery Lambton as staff pack for next month’s move to the new Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery.  Lambton County’s public art gallery closed its Bayside Centre location to the public earlier this month so staff could concentrate on the move.  Sarnia Observer, April 28, 2012

Los Angeles Getty Museums To Cut 34 Staff Jobs "The J. Paul Getty Trust announced Monday that it was cutting 34 jobs in its museum division, with the expected annual savings of $4.3 million to be redirected to art acquisitions. There will be no reductions in the exhibition schedule or public programs, the Getty said, and no cuts to curatorial and art-conservation staffs." Los Angeles Times, April 30, 2012

Hanover, New Hampshire Williams Tsien on a Roll  "This is the Year of the Museum for Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. While the firm’s new Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia is preparing for a late May opening, and its Asia Society Hong Kong Center opened in February, the New York firm was just selected by the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, to undertake a major expansion and renovation of its 1985 structure."  Architectural Record, April 2012

United States Rise Of The Artist-Endowed Foundations "Artist-endowed foundations are the sleeping giants of philanthropy," says András Szántó, a New York-based analyst and cultural consultant. Indeed, these charitable foundations, endowed by an artist with assets (archives, property and art among them) used for the public good, are quietly but dramatically changing the US art landscape through their grant-making programmes, scholarship, research activities and contributions to museum collections. St Petersburg Feline arty at the Hermitage  We have it on good authority from our sister paper in Russia that the Hermitage in St Petersburg has resident cats let loose at night to catch any mice. Art Newspaper, May 2012  

China The State Of Contemporary Chinese Photography "However coyly subversive, much of it seems aimed both at foreign curiosity seekers and at a native moneyed class with an appetite for slick advertising and pop mockery.
